I've graduated twice from the University of Glasgow, both disciplines majoring in fiction, an MA in Politics and an MLitt in Creative Writing. Since then I've made a career out of not specialising. The jobs have included taxi-driving in Glasgow's East End, running a golf shop and trying to sell books online. My latest occupation involved reading articles in great detail (readers here please note!). Not however, quite as interesting a job as it sounds. In old currency, press cuttings, in new parlance, media monitoring.

My career in writing has been equally as diverse and haphazard. I was shortlisted for the inaugural Scotland on Sunday newspaper's short story competition around the Millenium, have been published in a short story anthology called The Knuckle End, and commissioned to write for the short-lived COG Magazine. I resurrected these ambitions in 2009 by beginning to write online, and hopefully Suite 101 will help me develop further.

In my leisure time I'm equally at home trekking across the Scottish Highlands with a tent on my back, as sampling the delights of a new restaurant or nightspot in Glasgow, London, Edinburgh, Barcelona or any other city that will have me.
